Has the meaning of sin been lost?

March 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I think everything exploded that could since the new year so is has been a while since I have posted anything. I found this article in the USAToday and thought i would post it for comments. The author interviewed three of my favorite evangelicals with Mohler, Driscoll, and Keller. I love what Time Keller from Redeemer Church says about the need to “re-brand the word sin.” I so agree with him that many “Christian” words have lost their original meaning and need to be reset for our current audience. To say that someone has sinned, needs to repent of their sins, and receive forgiveness of their sins and receive eternal life  doesn’t mean the same to someone inside the church as outside. It is our job inside the church to use whatever tools necessary to present this good news in a clear, current, relevant way to those outside the church. Not to yell in the rain the words that no one understands as loud as we can for as long as we can.

So what does that mean for you and me? It means that we should make every attempt to make sure that we are clearly understood as we present the Good News Jesus. 1 Corinthians 9:22

Great Trip to Fla

January 7, 2008 · 3 Comments

So i went to Florida for the bowl game, finally a win in a bowl game is great, and Baby Ansley decided she didn’t want me to miss her birth.

I flew down Saturday morning excited about lunch at a Thai restaurant in Orlando with my mom, dad. Later on in the afternoon the dr. called Adam and Lora back to inform them that she needed to be admitted into the hospital. She had developed something called HELLP syndrome. They knew that they were going to need to take the baby early so they started giving her steriods so that Ansley’s lungs would develop.

We got Steph a flight down on Saturday for Sunday night and on Monday morning the dr. decided that he needed to take the baby. Lora was the most stable she had been the last couple of days. We knew that Ansley would be small, under 2 pounds, and weren’t sure how healthy she would be or if she would be able to stay at the NICU in Lakeland or would need to be taken to Tampa.

The good news is that she was born at weighing 1 pound 15 ounces and was able to stay at the NICU in Lakeland. She has never had to receive oxygen and is eating great.

Pretty awesome week! TN wins, Fla. loses, and another Mayfield is added to the world.

Leopard vs. Vista

December 1, 2007 · Leave a Comment

whiteleopardx my brother is going to be so disappointed if this is true. according to Oliver Rist at PCmag, which is a pretty pro Apple publication, Leopard is running into the same problems Vista has run into.

you can check out his article here.

would that not be the ultimate irony? the Vista killer turns out to be the most Vista like of all the Mac OS’s.

Person on you list hard to shop for?

November 30, 2007 · Leave a Comment

41T4G9BHQML__SS500_Steph and i did some Christmas shopping yesterday at the outlets in Pigeon Forge. We got almost everyone done but there are always those who are hard to shop for. it seems like every year the same people on our list are the last ones we find gifts for every year.

Well i have found the gift for all those people. The UFO-02 Detector detects magnetic and electromagnetic disturbances so that…i’m not sure.

Here is a description from Amazon:

Over the years many UFO sightings have reported magnetic and electromagnetic disturbances. The UFO Detector is designed to sense these disturbances and will signal their presence by flashing an LED and beeping. The elegantly designed transparent plastic case is a handsome sculptured conversation piece that’s allows one to see the electronics inside the case. Suitable for display on a desk, shelf or bedroom dresser. Size is approximately three inches in dia. by six inches tall. Uses 9V lithium battery (not included)

So, thanks to me, consider your Christmas shopping done for the year. Oh and by the way, don’t tell Steph what she will be getting this year if you see her!

National Treasure 2

November 26, 2007 · Leave a Comment

national-treasure-book-of-secrets i loved the first national treasure and have been excited about the second one since i heard they were making it.

it finally comes out on December 21st and i cant wait. i was bouncing around the web about found this game. it is some sort of treasure hunt set up to promote the movie.

i haven’t played it and it looks like the game which came out before the last jason bourne movie. it turned out to be more of an advertisement for master card than anything else. i’ll hope this is a real game i can waste some hours playing over the holidays.
